Ivy for friendship
rosemary for remembrance
honoring dear Jan
--photo and haiku by Kathy Klaasen,
A copy of this haiku was placed on every table (along with the named plants) at the lavish lunch put on by the wonderful people of Bethel Church, Sun Valley CA, after yesterday's memorial service "celebrating the earthly and heavenly life of Jan De Haan." Thank you, Bethel!

The chorus out back,
unseasonably loud, has
caught my attention:
Robins, like apples,
hang from bare boughs, dotting the
winter sky with red.
In constant motion,
other birds emerge, having
A nick of blue sky
peels away from one tree trunk;
a jay rolls, then lights.
